Steps:

  1. Make sure the laptop is unplugged and powered off.
  2. Locate the battery latches on the underside of the laptop.
  3. Step image
  4. Slide the right latch to the right until you hear it lock into place.
  5. Slide the left latch to the left and hold it.

  7. Slide the battery out towards you.

  9. Pry up the thin narrow strip of facing above the keyboard using the opening tool.

  11. Remove the four screws securing the keyboard using the T4 Torx screwdriver,

  13. Lift the keyboard slowly using the opening tool and lean it toward touchpad.
  14. It will still be held by the connector ribbon. Make sure not to pull out the connector ribbon.

  16. The ribbon is attached by a white clip. Wedge the white clip up carefully using the spudger. This will release the connector ribbon and you can now remove the keyboard.

  18. Remove the twelve screws from the underside of the laptop using the Phillips #1 screwdriver.

  20. Remove the three screws from the underside of the laptop using a Phillips #1 screwdriver.

  22. Remove the two screws from the underside of the laptop, where the battery was located, using the Phillips #1 screwdriver,

  24. Turn the laptop over and remove the four screws using the Phillips #1 screwdriver.

  26. Detach the ribbon cable with black clip by carefully using the spudger tool and prying up the black clip gently or gently lift up on the blue tab until the clip releases the ribbon cable.

  28. Detach the wire connector by using the flat side of the spudger tool to pry the connector apart; this can also be accomplished by gently wiggling the connector until it comes apart.

  30. Remove the top plastic cover by lifting it from one of the corners. It should come off easily.

  32. Remove the two screws using the Phillips #1 screwdriver.

  34. Disconnect the wire ribbon cables by gently lifting up the clips with the spudger or gently lifting on the blue tabs until the clips release the ribbon cables.

  36. Disconnect the wire connectors by gently prying them apart with the flat end of the spudger. This can also be accomplished by gently wiggling the connector until it comes apart.

  38. Remove the motherboard.
