iPad Mini Home button Replacement
ID: 100626
Description: This guide is strictly on how to replace the...
Steps:
- Use heat to losen the adhesive. A low temp hot air gun will suffice.
- After heating up the adhesive, you can use a basic spudger to pry off the flex from the glass
- be sure not to use too much force, this flex is very fragile.
- use your iron, and low guage solder to apply a layer of your own solder on the pads
- the new solder will allow for faster, and more controlled heat transfer.
- a few back and forth strokes of your soldering iron should be enough to remove the flex cable.
- be sure not to apply too much force with the iron, as you can cause physical damage to the pads.
- Using a little bit of solder flux, can help decrease the amount of pressure needed to properly transfer the heat.
- be sure to make sure you can see directly through the holes marked on both sides.
- Line the corrisponding holes up, and make sure they are 100% overlapped.
- failing to properly line up the holes can cause a short, or cold circuit.
- Use the new solder you added, to connect to the flex.
- be sure to cover the traces with some electrical tape to avoid shorts.
- congratulations on your home button replacement
