Steps:

1. Unplug the coffee maker.

2. Remove the coffee pot and place the coffee maker upside down.

3. Remove the five 1.6mm Phillips #1 screws from the bottom panel.

4. Remove the bottom panel.

5. Remove the two 1.6mm Phillips #0 screws from the retaining bracket on the heating element.

6. Remove the retaining bracket and allow it to hang off of the heating element.

7. Remove the hot plate from the heating element.
8. New thermal paste should be applied at time of installation.
