Steps:

  1. Power down the computer and remove the external battery.
  2. Using a small pick tool, dental pick, tweezers, small flat screwdriver, or similar probe, remove the two small rectangular rubber plugs located inside the battery compartment.
  3. Locate the two small oval depressions in the keyboard fascia, just below either Ctrl key.
  4. Using a flat screwdriver or narrow spudger in the depressions, slide the fascia up towards the hinges about 3mm (0.1 inches). The top edge slips beneath the bezel.
  5. This exposes five Phillips screw heads, located in the 3rd and 5th rows of the key area. Remove them.
  6. Using a flat screwdriver or small spudger, lift the keyboard up starting near the bottom edge.
  7. There are two ribbon cables; the wider is for the keyboard, and the other is for the touchpoint.
  8. Disconnect the ribbon cables by flipping up the plastic keeper holding each ribbon in place.
  9. Note their alignment and how deeply each ribbon was inserted in its connector. This knowledge will help you when reinserting the new ribbon cables.
  10. Remove the keyboard.
