  1. Remove back panel by wedging the iFixit opening tool on all four sides of the device.

  2. Desolder the three wires (black, red, and white) that are attached to the motherboard.

  3. Wedge the iFixit opening tool between the battery and the metal plate beneath it, lifting the battery completely off the metal plate.
