Steps:

1. Grab the plastic housing at the end of the spark plug wire.
2. Pull firmly to disconnect the wire from the spark plug.

3. Use a 1/2" socket or wrench to remove the two 26 mm bolts securing the rear guard to the back end of the brush cutter.

4. The brush cutter is heavy—get help before attempting to lift it.
5. If you choose to tip the brush cutter onto its side, first drain the oil and gas.
6. Raise and support the back end of the brush cutter—or tip it carefully onto its side—in order to access the bottom cover.

7. Use a 3/8” socket or wrench to remove the four 21 mm bolts securing the rear guard.
8. Remove the guard.
