Description: This guide will teach you how to open up a...
Steps:
- Remove the rubber plug hiding the screw
- Remove the screw under the plug
- Remove two screws below the blades with a long Philips screwdriver
- Remove the screws at the bottom of the blade
- Remove the blade
- Gently open the housing
- open the plastic parts holding the circuit in place
- start lifting from the tail
- Desolder the wires from the motor terminals to remove the PCB from the case.
- Use solder wick or a desoldering pump to remove the solder from the battery terminals.
- The battery solder tabs may need to be straightened before the old batteries can be lifted from the board. Be careful not to rip the solder pads from the PCB in the process. Heat remaining solder on the pads/tabs with the soldering iron when straightening.
- Make sure the old batteries are loose in the solder pads before carefully lifting them from the board.
- Be careful not to short the circuit while installing the new batteries.
- Either trim the solder pads of the new batteries to fit into the PCB holes, or trim the solder tabs flush to the battery diameter and use some solid wire (wire from uncoated paperclips might work) soldered on to the solder tabs of the new batteries to mount them into the PCB holes.
- Keep soldering times short by using a soldering iron with enough heat capacity (=size) to avoid damaging the batteries due to heat influx.
- Bend the solder pads or wires so that they match the mounting hole distance on the PCB.
- If necessary, remove solder from the side of the mounting hole on the PCB to make it fit back into the case. E.g. with a small file.
- After installing the new batteries, measure voltage across the battery terminals to make sure they are OK. Check polarity of the installed batteries.
- Re-fit the PCB into the case and resolder the motor wires.
- Test the assembly by turning on the switch on the case. The motor should run. Also the LED should turn on green when plugging in the charger.
