Steps:

1. Turn the mouse power switch to the off position.

2. Slide the battery back plate down to remove it, granting access to the battery compartment.

3. Pull the gray plastic battery tab to remove the AA batteries.
4. The second battery may not come all the way loose, and may require additional effort to remove.

5. Unscrew the two screws in the battery compartment with a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

6. Lift and pull the rear area of bottom shell outward to separate mouse bottom from the upper shell.

7. Lift the back of the scroll wheel housing to remove the scroll wheel.

8. The old scroll wheel should now be separated from the mouse.
9. Place the replacement scroll wheel in the scroll wheel housing, aligning the small plastic cylinder with its housing for proper wheel alignment.
