Steps:

  1. Before you begin, be sure that the engine is powered off and is cool to the touch.
  2. Grab the plastic housing at the end of the spark plug wire.
  3. Pull firmly to disconnect the wire from the spark plug.

  5. Use a 1/2" socket and wrench to loosen the two bolts securing the belt guard.
  6. The bolts are captive and should not be removed.

  8. Remove the belt guard.

  10. Use scissors or a blade to cut the drive belt.
  11. Remove the drive belt.

  13. Loop the replacement belt onto the small pulley.

  15. Replacing the belt poses a substantial pinching hazard. Wear safety gloves and be mindful where you position your fingers.
  16. Guide the belt over the top of the clutch pulley.
  17. Loop the belt underneath the pulley axle.
  18. Rotate the pulley slowly and guide the built into the groove.
  19. Getting the replacement belt back onto the drive pulley requires considerable strength.
