Kobo Aura One Teardown

ID: 139831

Description: My Kobo Aura One has had the screen fail…...

Steps:

  1. Opening up the back cover using opening tools. It is held on using double sided tape
  2. The connectors were covered with some sort of stuff which was rubbery hot glue, which had to be removed from it.
  3. Careful of the connectors. Bottom 2 ribbons are for the touchscreen, one on the right is the wifi antenna.
  4. The LCD connector is the large ribbon
  5. The battery connector is in the top left.
  6. 4 Ph0 screws hold the circuit board into the case

  8. The front is tricky to remove, as the digitizer is adhered to the front panel, and is also stuck to the digital ink screen, which is adhered to the inner frame.
  9. I was able to seperate the Digitizer/front bezel from the LCD, but there is white flakes, and marks on the cracked LCD (cracks was why it failed)
