Steps:
- Lay the chair down.
- If the chair is too heavy to turn upside down, have someone help you do it.
- Wipe the stem of the caster with a rag or paper towel to remove any dust or debris.
- Use a flathead screwdriver in between the caster and the base of the chair to pry the wheel out of the socket.
- Turn the screwdriver gently until the caster starts to move upwards away from the chair.
- Try rotating the screwdriver at different angles if the caster won't come out.
- Use a prying tool that is big enough to fit between the caster and over the stem.
- Gently pull on the caster upwards and it should come off.
- Measure the wheel's height and length.
- Once you've done that, purchase your new casters.
- Large casters(about 3"), are more durable and versatile. Twin-wheel casters are usually used in office settings.
- Push the caster's stem into the bottom of chair leg.
- Install the new casters.
