Steps:
- To avoid risk of electrocution, unplug the fan from the power outlet.
- Lay the fan horizontally and remove the base by unscrewing the locking nut from the fan housing.
- Remove the 3” wing screw on the bottom of the fan; then, remove the four 3" screws on the top of the fan.
- A Torx screwdriver is required for this process.
- Carefully open up the fan housing in half by pulling the front and back parts away from each other. You should now be able to see the motor attached with the fan blade.
- This may require a large amount of force, so proceed with caution. You may use a plastic tool to separate the parts.
- Remove the screw connecting the motor shaft with the bottom half of the fan blade.
- Remove the two screws connecting the metal bracket with the fan blade and remove the metal bracket.
- To carefully remove the fan blades, grab the fan blades firmly and lift them toward yourself.
- Gently clean the inner surface of the fan with a cloth or a vacuum cleaner to remove all the dust that has collected through usage.
- To fix the rattling noise, carefully apply lubricating grease around the blade drum’s shaft.
- Make sure not to drop any of the lubricants onto the bearing!
- Lubricate the metal bracket’s tab and around the screw holes.
- To avoid a future squeaky noise, put a liquid rubber on the top surface during reassembly. This effectively prevents friction.
- Make sure not to drop any of the lubricants onto the bearing!
- Slowly place the new fan blades in correct alignment.
- The slots on the fan blades and centre column must be aligned perfectly.
- To stop the new fan blades from vibrating, tighten the screws around the metal bracket and motor shaft. Then, place the other half of the tower casing and screw it in place.
- It is important to connect and adjust all parts of the tower fan securely in place to avoid noise.
