Steps:

  1. Turn off the air conditioner using the remote controller.
  2. Unplug the A/C unit from its power source.

  4. Place your hands on the edges of the lid, and pull the lid up to open it.
  5. Apply force as needed in a progressive motion. A small tug might be necessary if the lid is very hard to open.

  7. Grab the filter by the small tab located at the bottom.
  8. Pull the filter towards yourself to snap it out of the slot that holds it in place.
  9. Pull the whole filter out of the A/C unit.

  11. OPTIONAL STEP: If your filters are broken or damaged – consider buying new filters.
  12. Buy filters that are specifically made for your model of the air conditioner. Otherwise, the filters might not fit into the unit or the device may not function properly.
  13. Skip steps 5-7 and continue with step 8 after you’ve purchased your new filters.

  16. Slide the filter from side to side to ensure every part of the filter is washed with the stream.

  19. Place your filters in a bucket with one part water and one part vinegar.
  20. Leave for one hour to soak.
  21. Wash the filters in circular motions with a soapy sponge.

  25. Place your filters on a towel in a dry room and let them completely dry out before proceeding to the next step.
