Steps:

1. Note the position that the selector switch is in when the guitar has intermittent or no signal.

2. Remove the retaining nut that holds the pickup selector switch to the guitar.

3. Place the guitar face-down on a soft and clean surface.

4. If the guitar has active pickups, open the battery tray and remove the 9-volt battery.

5. Remove the large plastic backing plate.

6. Carefully pull the pickup selector switch out of the body of the guitar.

7. Switch the pickup selector switch to the side that does not work.
8. If neither side works, then repeat the next step on each side.

9. Insert the sandpaper into the switch and proceed to scuff the contacts. Be sure to flip the sandpaper and scuff each side of the contact.

10. Insert the switch back into the guitar, ensure that the switch is in the correct orientation.
