Replacing a Broken/Cracked Window Blind Slat
ID: 142299
Description: This guide provides steps that you should...
Steps:
- Adjust the angle of the blinds until every slat is flat or laying horizontally using the blind's wand.
- Carefully remove the damaged slat by cutting the slant halfway across its width, at the point where it is connected to the rest of the blind, with a pair of 8-inch 'Westcott' scissors.
- Remove the damaged slat from the blind after it has been cut on both sides.
- Choose an un-cracked slat from a part of the blind that is unaffected during normal use - preferably from the very bottom of the blind.
- Carefully cut the selected slat halfway across its width, at its two connected points.
- Carefully remove the replacement slat from its old position, making sure to not extend the cut you made past halfway of the slats width.
- Carefully place the replacement slat it into its new position.
- Connect the replacement slat to the support strings at the points where the cuts were made.
- Tear off a small piece of invisible tape from the roll of tape and carefully place it over the cuts that were made on the replacement slat.
- Apply tape over the top and bottom of the cuts, on both sides of the replacement slat.
- Twist the wand of the window blind to test it after applying the tape to both sides of the replacement slat.
- If the replacement slat stays in its new position then congratulations, you have completed the fix!
