Steps:
- Remove the flat tire by loosening and removing the axle nut with a 19 mm wrench.
- Unscrew the axle bolt with a 19 mm socket wrench.
- Remove the axle bolt from hole and remove the wheel from the wheelchair.
- Insert the 19 mm socket wrench between the rubber tire and the metal frame.
- Any rigid flat object will do for this step.
- Carefully run the 19 mm socket wrench along the edge of the tire all the way around and bend the wrench down to pop the tire out of the rim.
- When undoing the tire, be careful using the back of the wrench because the tool can damage the tire tube and or wheel frame.
- Reach inside the tire and remove the tube from the metal frame.
- Carefully feed the air valve through the hole in the rim before removing, or you could tear a larger hole in the tire.
- Reach inside the tire and remove the tube from the metal frame.
- Before replacing the tube, feel along the tire to check for and remove any objects stuck in the tire.
- Line up the air valve on the new (partially deflated) tube with the hole on the metal frame.
- Working all around the tire, carefully push the tube back into place inside the tire.
- Finally, push the tire back into place on the metal frame and inflate the tire.
- The tire should be inflated to 50 psi and very hard.
- Insert the axle bolt into center of rear wheel.
- Insert the wheel with the axle bolt into the lower back of the frame.
- Screw the bolt on the outside of the wheel with a 19 mm socket wrench.
- Screw the nut on the inside of the wheel with a 19 mm wrench.
