Steps:

  1. Flip the device over so that the underside is facing up.
  2. Remove the six 3.5 mm T5 Torx screws.

  4. Pry off the back cover using the plastic opening tool.
  5. Loosen the back cover in multiple spots using the opening tool, then remove the whole back.
  6. You may have to run the plastic tool along the edges until you find a small gap to separate the back cover from the laptop.
  7. Do not use a metal tool when working with your device.

  9. Carefully lift the cover off with your hands.

  11. Unplug the battery from the motherboard by pinching the cables with your fingers and tugging out with force.
  12. Use the spudger for assistance.

  14. Unscrew the four 3mm screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

  16. The battery is still held in place with two stretch-release adhesive strips, similar to ones found in an iPhone.
  17. Use your fingers to pry up the clear plastic pull-tab for one of the stretch release adhesives.
  18. Grasp the pull-tab and slowly pull away from the battery at a shallow angle. The adhesive strip will stretch to many times its length and slowly release from underneath the battery.
  19. Repeat the procedure for the second strip on the opposite side of the battery.
  20. Be careful not to bend the battery. Breaking the battery is dangerous.
  21. Remove the battery with your hands.

  23. Remove the single 2 mm screw from the fingerprint reader cover plate using the Phillips #00 screwdriver.
  24. Gently lift and slide out the cover plate using a pair of angled ESD tweezers.

  26. Using the angled ESD tweezers, gently lift the black tab on top of the ZIF connector on the fingerprint reader.
  27. Gently pull the ribbon cable out from the connector using the tweezers.

  29. Lift and remove the fingerprint reader from the laptop using the angled ESD tweezers.
