Steps:

  1. Before you begin. Make sure that the device is turned off and the batteries have been removed.
  2. To remove the 2 AAA batteries. Press your thumb on the grooves of the battery cover (on the lower back of the radio) and move your thumb downward.
  3. You'll see a black battery ribbon once the battery cover has been removed. Gently tug on the battery ribbon to remove the batteries from the compartment.

  5. Be careful when pulling on the battery ribbon. Even tugging on it gently can cause the batteries to fly out of the battery compartment. To avoid losing the batteries or injuring yourself or someone else, place your hand over the battery compartment to stop the batteries from flying out.

  7. For these steps you will need your #000 Philips Head screwdriver bit.
  8. Place the radio face-down so the back panel is visible. Then unscrew the four screws located on the top and middle of the back panel.
  9. The two top screws are smaller then the two middle screws. If you think you might want to put this back together again it's important to remember where to put each size screw so as to not mess up any internal components.
  10. There are two screws inside the battery compartment that also need to be unscrewed. The #000PH will work for this step too. These screws are just as long as the middle screws from the back plate.

  12. Take your spudger and put it between the back plate and the actual radio compartment. Slowly guide it along the edges to remove.
  13. Be careful when guiding the spudger through. There are plastic clips that connect these two pieces together. If you plan on reassembly, be careful not to break these.
  14. If you don't have a spudger, you can use picks to do the same thing.

  16. Once you've successfully pried the back plate off, you will have access to all of the internal components of the radio.
