Lunii - Loss of sound on internal speaker
ID: 149634
Description: Repair tutorial for when internal speaker does...
Steps:
- Remove the 4 Torx 6 screws located at the back of the device.
- Since the screws are housed at the bottom of a hole, you will need a particularly long bit or even better, a screwdriver.
- Separate the two parts of the box, taking care to open the box well from the top, so that you end up with the contents of the box still in place in each of the halves.
- Remove the battery from its housing.
- The connector needs to be removed very gently.
- Depending on the connector, some force may be required.
- Remove the volume dial by pulling it out.
- The knob has a latch, which must be returned to its original position when reassembling.
- Remove the selection knob by pulling it upwards.
- For reassembly, there's a small pin on one side of the knob axis which must match that of the component on the PCB.
- The circuit board is easy to remove from the case, as there are no screws to hold it in place.
- After repairing the cut trace between the jack and the pad to the left of the D6 marking, check the signal of the R38 pad, near the processor.
- Damage to the trace can be very hard to see, as shown here.
- This connection seems to work at first glance. But on closer inspection, the trace is cut off right at the pad.
- Ideally, a piece of wire should be used to reconnect the connector to the soldering pad at the other end of the trace.
- Here are two examples of repairs that are equivalent in function. The first is carried out by a professional using his own equipment.
