Steps:

1. Turn off and unplug the laptop.
2. Failure to turn off and unplug the cable could result in electric shock.
3. Place the laptop upside-side-down with the hinges towards you.

4. Use your right hand to move the right switch from the locked position to the unlocked position.
5. Use your left hand to move the left switch from the locked position to the unlocked position.

6. While keeping the left switch unlocked, pull the battery away from the computer with your right hand.

7. Loosen the two captive screws in the plate with a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
8. Remove the plate from the laptop.

9. Loosen the two captive screws in the hard drive plate using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

10. Use your hands to remove the hard drive plate from the laptop.

11. Remove the two 13 mm screws from the back plate using a Phillips #0 screwdriver.

12. Lift and remove the small plate from the laptop.

13. Remove the thirteen 6 mm screws from the back plate using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
14. Remove the five 5 mm screws from the back plate using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

15. Pull the back plate off, starting from the right side, being cautious of the ports on the left side.

16. Use an opening tool to detach the hard drive connector from the DVD drive.

17. Remove the two 4 mm screws using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
18. Remove the one 3 mm screw using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
19. Remove the silver bracket that comes loose.

20. Pull on the orange bar with your fingers to detach it from the DVD drive.
21. Pull out and remove the DVD drive from the laptop.
