Steps:
- Before replacing the dome light and to avoid a short circuit, disconnect the car battery first.

- Carefully attach the hood strut, (located towards the left of your car's engine), into the slot to hold the weight of the hood.
- Disconnect the positive terminal of the battery in order to avoid short circuits.
- Use a spudger and insert it into the space between the dome light cover and edge.
- Gently pry the cover off but be careful that you don't break any of the clips attaching the cover to the assembly.
- Evaluate if the bulb is just loose or if it has burned out and needs to be replaced.
- In this case, you can see that the bulb has turned black from the inside, indicating it has shorted out. This bulb needs to be replaced.
- Use the spudger to detach the bulb from one end of the socket.
- Pull the bulb out of the socket with the end that is loose.
- Align the new bulb with the socket and push it back into place.
- Ensure the bulb is connected to each end of the socket or it will not function.
- Before attaching the cover of the dome light, reconnect the car battery carefully and test the light to make sure it works.
- Align the tabs on the dome light cover with the holes in the assembly and push the cover back into place.
- You should now have a functioning dome light.
