How to Descale a Mr. Coffee Espresso Machine and Steaming Wand

Steps:

1. In a measuring cup, add 1 cup of white vinegar.
2. Add 2 cups of water.
3. You can also buy premade descaling solution.

4. Turn off the machine.
5. Twist off the water reservoir cap.
6. Fill the water reservoir to the top with the descaling solution.
7. Twist the water reservoir cap back on.

8. Turn the knob to the brew setting.
9. The descaling solution will be extremely hot while it is brewing out.
10. Turn the knob to off as soon as the solution comes out.

11. Fill a cup with the descaling solution.
12. Remove the steaming wand cover.
13. Place the cup where the steaming wand is emerged in the descaling solution.
14. Soak the steaming wand for 1-2 hours.

15. Remove the cup from under the steaming wand.
16. Insert an interdental brush or toothpick into the steaming wand.
17. Move the interdental brush or toothpick around to remove any mineral build up.
18. Moving the interdental brush or toothpick in an up and down motion and a small circular motion will help remove the most mineral build up.

19. Place an empty cup or mug under the steaming wand.
20. Turn the knob to the steam setting.
21. If no steam comes out repeat steps 4-6.

22. Unplug the machine.
23. Let the machine sit overnight to depressurize.
24. Unscrewing the reservoir cap before letting it sit overnight could result in the machine improperly depressurizing and expelling the hot descaling solution.

25. Twist off the water reservoir cap.
26. Pour out the remaining descaling solution.
27. Rinse the reservoir twice by filling it with water and pouring it out.

28. Fill the reservoir with water.
29. Brew and steam all the water out of the reservoir.
30. You must turn the knob to the brew or steam setting to get the water out of reservoir.
31. Repeat this process 4 times.
