Steps:

  1. Open the trunk.
  2. Use a screwdriver or liner remover tool that to pry open the six push screws.
  3. Remove the trunk carpet liner.
  4. Be careful with push clips as they are composed of two pieces which can be easily separated or broken.

  6. Remove all four nuts with a 10 mm socket wrench.
  7. Remove the white plastic wire hose that is on the top right screw.
  8. This wire hose is for wire neatness and is attached to the screw to stop it from moving around while the vehicle is in motion.

  10. Unplug each taillight.
  11. There should be one white plug connector per light. There is a black switch to activate the sequential blinker feature.
  12. Work the taillight out of the taillight groove. This may involve light wiggling to separate from vehicle.
  13. Be careful removing the taillight. The tail light can chip or break if removed too aggressively.

  15. Set the new taillight in the groove until you get a snug fit, and the rubber grommet (in the screw hole) has a watertight seal.
  16. This is very important to keep rainwater out of the taillight.
  17. Do not over torque the screws as the black rubber gasket surrounding the taillight will come through the hole resulting in a non-water-tight seal. Hand-tight torque is all that is needed.

  19. Take a new taillight and plug both taillight bulbs in. Screw clockwise.
  20. Replace all 10 mm bolts for the taillight and screw each bolt in a star pattern.
  21. Make sure you don’t over-tighten as this will pull the grommet through the hole which will result in the air-tight seal being broken.

  23. Turn on the car and test if the taillight is working properly and is lit up.
