2014 Subaru BRZ Valenti Tail Light Replacement
ID: 158557
Description: Like any other car taillights can burn out or...
Steps:
- Open the trunk.
- Use a screwdriver or liner remover tool that to pry open the six push screws.
- Remove the trunk carpet liner.
- Be careful with push clips as they are composed of two pieces which can be easily separated or broken.
- Remove all four nuts with a 10 mm socket wrench.
- Remove the white plastic wire hose that is on the top right screw.
- This wire hose is for wire neatness and is attached to the screw to stop it from moving around while the vehicle is in motion.
- Unplug each taillight.
- There should be one white plug connector per light. There is a black switch to activate the sequential blinker feature.
- Work the taillight out of the taillight groove. This may involve light wiggling to separate from vehicle.
- Be careful removing the taillight. The tail light can chip or break if removed too aggressively.
- Set the new taillight in the groove until you get a snug fit, and the rubber grommet (in the screw hole) has a watertight seal.
- This is very important to keep rainwater out of the taillight.
- Do not over torque the screws as the black rubber gasket surrounding the taillight will come through the hole resulting in a non-water-tight seal. Hand-tight torque is all that is needed.
- Take a new taillight and plug both taillight bulbs in. Screw clockwise.
- Replace all 10 mm bolts for the taillight and screw each bolt in a star pattern.
- Make sure you don’t over-tighten as this will pull the grommet through the hole which will result in the air-tight seal being broken.
- Turn on the car and test if the taillight is working properly and is lit up.
