Description: A quick project to make a custom-built TV...

Steps:

  1. Custom-made TV antenna cable or lead, from the wall antenna jack to the TV set, Replacing a short cable with a longer one, disassembling the connectors and moving them to the new 4 m cable.

  3. Disassemble the elbow connector Mod. 127-E I used metal connectors as they are more immune to interference, much stronger and more durable.
  4. Unscrew the threaded gray part and remove it.
  5. Unscrew the screw and remove the connector.

  7. Place the threaded gray part on the new cable, in this case it already had the tip stripped, (so I will explain how to do it on the other connector.
  8. Fold the metal braid wrapped about the inner core of the cable back as shown so it will connect with the ridges of the connector.

  10. Insert the center stiff wire into the center pin opening, then tighten the screw to secure it.

  12. Attach the metal connector sleeve and screw the gray plastic part onto it.

  14. Now it"s time to disassemble the other connector, this one is a Straight connector.
  15. To open the crimped band on the metal braid I used pliers.
  16. Unscrew the center pin to free the cable.

  18. This type straight connector has the metal braid very close to the center pin, so I used electrical insulating tape to prevent any electrical connection or "short circuit" between them.

  20. To place the cable connector, first we strip the outer plastic sheath between 0.8 and 1 cm. using a cutter.
  21. Again, fold the metal braid (ground) back over the core sheath covering the "live" or signal cable.

  23. Once the mesh is folded, we strip about three mm from the second plastic sheath that protects the central wire.
  24. Step image Step image Step image
  25. We slide the cover onto the cable, this step is often forgotten necessitating disassembly and starting again.
  26. We insert the center wire into the central pin of the connector.
  27. We tighten the screw.

  29. With a flat nose pliers or better still, universal pliers, we crimp the jaw on the metal braid cable.
  30. We slide the connector sleeve and screw it on; finished connector.
