Carrier P4SPA6 Home Air Filter Replacement
ID: 163321
Description: This guide will show you how to replace the...
Steps:
- Turn off the HVAC system to prevent unfiltered air from traveling through your home.
- Usually the button for the system is located besides your AC. If not, adjust the temperature setting lower than the current room temperature to trigger the system to turn off.
- Wait for 5 mins to fully shut down. Check the fan before you start.
- The air filter compartment is usually near the air duct. Depending on your individual system, you may find it near the furnace. Based on how your system is set up, you may need a screwdriver to open the cover in order to access your old air filter.
- Slide out your old filter but pay attention to the direction of airflow indicated on the box. If you can’t find it, the airflow should go towards the furnace. Proper disposal is important because it will usually contain dust and debris. Use a vacuum or a cloth to wipe away dirt and clean up debris if you can.
- Take the new air filter and insert it into the slot, following the direction of the airflow arrow on the filter frame, making sure it's snug.
- If it's loose, check the size. There should be a place to put the date on top but this sub step is optional.
- Close the compartment by putting on the cover. You may need a screwdriver. Double check that it is sealed properly before turning on the HVAC system.
- If you can’t access the button, trigger it by adjusting the temperature. In the summer, lower the temperature below the room temperature. In the winter increase it above the room temperature.
