Steps:
- Press the power button to power on the espresso machine.
- Pull out and empty the water tank and drip tray.
- Pull out the water filter from the water tank.
- Pour a packet of descaler (or a descaler tablet) into the water tank.
- Fill the water tank with fresh water to the descale line located on the side of the water tank.
- If you do not have a descaler, pour a 1:1 mixture of white vinegar and water into the water tank instead.
- Reinsert water tank and drip tray.
- Position the steam wand above the drip tray.
- If you wish to prevent splashing, place a tall bowl or cup under the steam wand.
- Press the menu button.
- Turn the knob labelled “Filter Size” counterclockwise until the “descale” label is blinking on the display.
- Press down on the “Filter Size” knob to select descale.
- The letter d will appear on the display and the one cup button will illuminate.
- Press the one cup button to enter descale mode.
- d3 will appear on the display and water will pour from the group head.
- Wait for the display to show “d2.”
- Rotate the right dial to the hot water icon to descale the hot water dispenser.
- Wait for the display to show “d1.”
- Rotate the right dial to the steam icon to descale the steam wand.
- Wait for the display to show “r.”
- Rotate the right dial back to the neutral position.
- r means "rinse." You are now in the rinsing phase of descaling your espresso machine.
- Pull out and empty the water tank.
- Fill the water tank with fresh water to the max line.
- Reinsert the water tank.
- Pull out the drip tray.
- Empty the drip tray.
- Reinsert the drip tray.
- Press the one cup button to initiate the rinse cycle.
- “r3” should appear on the display.
- Wait for the display to show “r2”.
- Rotate the right dial to the hot water icon to rinse the hot water dispenser.
- Wait for the display to show “r1.”
- Rotate the right dial to the steam icon to rinse the steam wand.
- Once the rinse is complete, the grind amount option will appear on the display.
- Rotate the right dial back to the neutral position.
- Pull out the water tank.
- Reinsert the water filter.
- Refill the water tank with fresh water.
- Pull out and empty the drip tray.
- Reinsert the water tank and drip tray.
- Your expresso machine should be clean and produce better tasting drinks!
