Steps:

1. Position the headphones so that you can see the opening for the cushion along the outer edge where the cushion meets the plastic.
2. Place an iFixit opening tool between the cushion and the plastic to help you separate them.

3. Be aware that the plastic tabs securing the cushion in place are susceptible to breaking. Use caution with the iFixit opening tool when separating the cushion because damaging these tabs will result in difficulty reattaching the cushion.

4. After removing the ear pad cushion, unscrew the four 1.6mm black screws with your Phillips-head screwdriver.

5. Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the black casing screws.
6. Lift the casing to see the battery.

7. The central spherical piece of metal is the battery. Use the ifixit opening tool and pry open the battery in your direction to remove the battery.
