Steps:
- Fill a cooking pot halfway full with water.
- Place the pot with water on the stove.
- Turn the stove burner on to medium heat.
- Using a stove can cause burns. Be sure to watch where you place your hands or if there are people around who may accidentally be burned.
- Gas stoves can expose excess gas into your house when they are not lit properly and can lead to unconsciousness or serious injuries.
- Boil the water until it starts steaming.
- Use tongs to hold the ring and place it in the steaming water.
- Boiling water can cause burn injuries when splashed onto skin.
- Release the grip on the ring, and let the ring sit at the bottom of the pot.
- Remove the tongs from the pot and set them aside.
- Boil the ring in the water for 5 minutes.
- After 5 minutes, remove the ring from the boiling water using tongs.
- Place the ring on a paper towel for 5 minutes to cool the metal.
- The metal of the ring will be hot and can burn your skin.
- Place the warped ring on a metal mandrel.
- Pull the ring down the mandrel to the desired ring size.
- Our desired ring size was a size 8.
- Use a rubber mallet to gently pound the ring band until it is round again.
- Be careful with your fingers while using the mallet.
- Rotate the ring to check that it is round and smooth.
- Pull the ring off the mandrel.
