Steps:

  1. The first step to accessing the innards of this scale is to remove the top platen. The platen has four hooks on the bottom that attach it to the piece underneath. Rotating the platen counterclockwise about five degrees should detach the platen except that in addition to the hooks, the platen is glued to the piece below.

  2. Flip the scale over and remove the battery cover and batteries. Remove the seven screws. A JIS #2 screwdriver works best.
  3. Flip the scale back over and lift the top deck off to expose the electronics.
