Steps:

  1. Unplug your refrigerator before you begin your repair.
  2. If you are testing or repairing the following items, you may also need to shut off and disconnect the water supply:
  3. Condenser fan motor
  4. Compressor motor and thermal overload device
  5. Water supply valve assembly

  7. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws securing the control board cover.

  9. Tilt the top edge of the cover toward you and lift it off.

  11. Squeeze and pull the connectors to disconnect them:
  12. Connectors from the control board
  13. Connectors from the refrigerator
  14. Some connectors can remain connected as the wires attached to them don't get in the way. There is no harm if they are disconnected. Remember to reconnect them if disconnected.

  16. Reposition the wiring harness away from the capacitor.

  18. Pull the two connectors straight off the capacitor to disconnect it.
  19. Handle the capacitor carefully as it may still be charged, and can give a dangerous and painful electrical shock. Avoid touching the terminals with your fingers or hands.

  22. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screw securing the capacitor to the refrigerator.
  23. Remove the capacitor.
