PUSHER, DIY tool for removing the coffee outlet screen in Nespresso coffee makers.
ID: 169176
Description:
Steps:
- A DIY construction tool, useful for easily disassembling a part of the capsule press piston in Nespresso coffee makers. Teardown of the sieve for proper cleaning.
- It allows us, from the front, once the nozzle is removed, to apply pressure and disassemble with complete ease, without damaging it, the filter or sieve upon which the capsule rests.
- Why did I decide on and come up with the idea of making such a simple and yet so useful tool? The idea arose due to the difficulty in extracting the sieve, with attempts made with significant difficulty from the inside, carrying the risk of damaging and scratching the sieve with various screwdrivers from the inside and from the front.
- Because of this, after giving the problem some thought, I saw that from the front hole or rectangle, you could push the sieve outward with an element 4 mm in diameter at most. I did not do it with a flathead screwdriver so as not to damage it, so it could be done with a blunt awl. Thus, the idea of the PUSHER was born.

- Photo 2: Once the blade is removed to avoid accidents, we trim the curved end.
- The tool is made 100% from recycled materials and can be made in just 30 minutes, though you must wait several hours for the glue to dry properly.
- 1 Razor handle.
- 1 4 mm drill bit that has a flat, undeformed base. There is no better flat punch than a drill bit used "backwards".
- Fast-drying or semi-fast-drying 2-component glue.
- Drill bit to use for the PUSHER, 4 mm
- Another better option if you do not want to cut with a hacksaw blade is to use PVC pipe cutters, electrician's shears, or a plumbing pipe cutter; the cut will be perfect.
- We drill, with another drill bit of the same diameter, the handle for about 4 cm so as not to damage the one we will use as the final punch.
- We remove the plastic shavings generated.
- We insert the drill bit into the hole made.
- We proceed to apply 2-component glue, filling all the spaces+ 1 so that the handle has consistency and force can be applied with it.
- As for glue, I use "Metal repair glue" which works for a multitude of materials and is sold on Aliexpress, and the truth is, since I tried them, I am delighted; they have given me very good results, it dries in very few hours and provides great hardness.

- After a few hours of drying—I recommend leaving it for about 12 hours—the tool is ready to use.

- Before proceeding to remove the sieve, I advise you to mark its position, since it has a small notch or indentation at the bottom. In this case, I am using a dark permanent marker; if you can get a white one, it is much more advisable.
- Photos taken from the top of the machine, where the capsule is inserted.
- Views of the tool ready for use.
- The step prior to the sieve Teardown is the removal of the nozzle or pico de loro; otherwise, we cannot see the coffee outlet hole where we will insert the PUSHER.
- Front view of the access point for the PUSHER; in this case, this piston has a rubber seal that must be removed to avoid damaging it.
- Using a powerful LED flashlight from the capsule side, check the interior to see if any of the screen holes are visible and clear from the front.
- Example with another piston, removed from another machine, seen on top of the table.
- Once the sieve has been checked, we can proceed to insert the PUSHER through the rectangular coffee outlet hole; its widest part is approximately 4.5 mm.
- With your fingers inside, use a pinching motion to prevent the sieve from popping out when you push it inward to unclip it.
- Remove it from the bottom.
- View of the removed sieve; we can wash it under the tap using a stiff toothbrush.
- Exploded view of the disassembled sieve; as we can observe, it has small protrusions on the sides and a slot on the bottom, which is very important to keep in mind when putting it back in place once cleaned.
- Photo 1: The slot and the mark made with the permanent marker can be seen.
- Once cleaned with the hard-bristled toothbrush, check by looking toward a lamp or a very brightly lit area that the coffee flow holes are clearly visible.
- CAUTION: NEVER, EVER touch up those holes with any tool or needle; enlarging those holes would render the machine unusable and cause it to leak coffee grounds.
- Photo 1: Reinserting the sieve from the top is generally not possible.
- It must be inserted from the bottom, moving upwards. PLEASE NOTE: As explained in steps 5 and 14, the sieve has a specific orientation that must be respected, otherwise it will not insert easily.
- When reinserting the sieve, the flashlight and PUSHER will help us position it from the outside; once correctly positioned, it fits perfectly when pinched with your fingers.
