ID: 170596
Description: This guide shows you how to replace the I/O...
Steps:
- Remove the thirteen 6.5 mm screws from the bottom of the laptop using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.
- Flip the laptop on its side and use a spudger or a credit card to pry the bottom covering off. To get a better grip you may want to open the laptop slightly.
- The bottom piece will make popping noises as it is pulled from the laptop.
- When reassembling make sure that the bottom piece clicks back into place on all sides of the laptop.
- The hard drive is a white square located on the right side of your device.
- Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove four 4.0 mm screws holding the hard drive in place.
- Slide the hard drive from the device towards your right.
- When reinstalling remember to slide the hard drive in from the right. Don't try to force it in from the front.
- Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the three 6.5 mm screws that secure the I/O board.
- Use the point of a spudger to push on alternating sides of the CMOS connector to "walk" it out of its socket.
- It may take a lot of alternating before the connector comes out. Be patient, and don't pull on the cables.
- To reconnect the cable, align the connector and use a spudger or clean fingernail to push it fully into the socket.
- Don't push on the cables themselves, or you may damage the connector.
- Slide the I/O board out from edge of the laptop to remove it.
- The CMOS battery was also removed with the I/O board in this photo. It is held on with a small amount of adhesive. It is not necessary to remove the CMOS battery for this repair.
