Steps:

  1. Remove the thirteen 6.5 mm screws from the bottom of the laptop using a Phillips #00 screwdriver.

  3. Flip the laptop on its side and use a spudger or a credit card to pry the bottom covering off. To get a better grip you may want to open the laptop slightly.
  4. The bottom piece will make popping noises as it is pulled from the laptop.
  5. When reassembling make sure that the bottom piece clicks back into place on all sides of the laptop.

  7. The hard drive is a white square located on the right side of your device.
  8. Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove four 4.0 mm screws holding the hard drive in place.

  10. Slide the hard drive from the device towards your right.
  11. When reinstalling remember to slide the hard drive in from the right. Don't try to force it in from the front.

  13. Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the three 6.5 mm screws that secure the I/O board.

  15. Use the point of a spudger to push on alternating sides of the CMOS connector to "walk" it out of its socket.
  16. It may take a lot of alternating before the connector comes out. Be patient, and don't pull on the cables.
  17. To reconnect the cable, align the connector and use a spudger or clean fingernail to push it fully into the socket.
  18. Don't push on the cables themselves, or you may damage the connector.
  19. Slide the I/O board out from edge of the laptop to remove it.
  20. The CMOS battery was also removed with the I/O board in this photo. It is held on with a small amount of adhesive. It is not necessary to remove the CMOS battery for this repair.
