How to Descale a Nespresso Vertuo

Steps:

1. Lift the machine head to ensure there are no capsules present inside.
2. Empty the capsule container by removing it from the machine and disposing of any used capsules.

3. Fill the water tank halfway with fresh water.
4. Add 1 packet of the Nespresso descaling solution to the water tank.
5. Do not swallow or ingest the Nespresso descaling solution.
6. The Nespresso descaling solution may cause irritation to skin and/or eyes.

7. To place the machine in descaling mode, begin with the lever in the unlocked position, parallel to the spout.
8. Press the button once and release it, then wait for the indicator light to turn on.

9. Press and hold the button until the indicator light turns off, and then begins blinking.
10. It may take approximately 7 seconds before the light begins to blink.

11. Rotate the lever to the left to secure it in the locked position.
12. Then return the lever back to the center to release the lock.

13. Press and hold the button until the indicator light turns off and then begins blinking again.
14. Steps 5 and 6 must be completed within 45 seconds of each other.

15. While the indicator light is blinking, rotate the lever to the left to place it in the locked position.

16. Place a large container (20oz+) underneath the spout.
17. Press and release the button once to begin dispensing the descaling solution.
18. The machine will intermittently dispense the solution. Once the cycle has finished running, the machine will be silent.
19. Discard the solution.

20. Rinse out the water tank.
21. Refill the water tank until it's about two-thirds full of fresh water and place it back onto the machine.
22. Place the large container back under the spout.

23. Press and release the button one time to begin the rinsing process.

24. Once the machine is silent and the water tank is empty, discard the water from the large container.

25. To reset the machine for regular use, press and hold the button until the indicator light stops blinking.

26. Wipe the machine down.
27. Let the machine rest for 10 minutes.
28. The machine is now ready for use.
