Steps:

1. Thread the sewing machine with a thread that matches your pants.
2. Thread via your sewing machine instructions. They can be marked on your machine, or in a separate pamphlet.

3. Remove the extension table from the sewing machine.

4. Pin the belt loop seam side up so that the top of the loop is 1/4 inch above the seam.

5. Sew using a straight stitch along the seam.
6. Use the reverse feature on the sewing machine to go over the stitches three times.
7. Once the sewing foot is down and the needle is in the fabric you can remove the pin.

8. Remove the pants from the sewing machine by cutting the threads.

9. Fold the interfacing over so that it is out of the way of the needle.
10. If the pants do not have interfacing, this step can be skipped.

11. Sew the belt loop a 1/4 inch below the seam using a straight stitch.
12. Use the reverse feature to go over the stitches three times.

13. Remove the pants from the sewing machine by cutting the threads.

14. Fold the belt loop over.

15. Trim the belt loop's excess length so that there is a 1/4 inch overlap.

16. Pin the folded belt loop to the top of the waistband.

17. Sew the top of the belt loop with an 1/8 inch seam allowance, using a straight stitch.
18. Use the reverse feature on the sewing machine and go over the stitches three times.

19. Remove the pants from the sewing machine by cutting the threads.

20. Trim any remaining threads.
