Steps:
- Thread the sewing machine with a thread that matches your pants.
- Thread via your sewing machine instructions. They can be marked on your machine, or in a separate pamphlet.
- Remove the extension table from the sewing machine.
- Pin the belt loop seam side up so that the top of the loop is 1/4 inch above the seam.
- Sew using a straight stitch along the seam.
- Use the reverse feature on the sewing machine to go over the stitches three times.
- Once the sewing foot is down and the needle is in the fabric you can remove the pin.
- Remove the pants from the sewing machine by cutting the threads.
- Fold the interfacing over so that it is out of the way of the needle.
- If the pants do not have interfacing, this step can be skipped.
- Sew the belt loop a 1/4 inch below the seam using a straight stitch.
- Use the reverse feature to go over the stitches three times.
- Remove the pants from the sewing machine by cutting the threads.
- Fold the belt loop over.
- Trim the belt loop's excess length so that there is a 1/4 inch overlap.
- Pin the folded belt loop to the top of the waistband.
- Sew the top of the belt loop with an 1/8 inch seam allowance, using a straight stitch.
- Use the reverse feature on the sewing machine and go over the stitches three times.
- Remove the pants from the sewing machine by cutting the threads.
- Trim any remaining threads.
