Steps:

  1. Check if your brake pads are worn down. If they are less than ΒΌ of an inch thick, it is time to replace them.

  3. First, unscrew the pinch bolt on the left front brake using an adjustable wrench.

  5. Unhook the brake cables from both sides.

  7. Starting with the right brake pad, unscrew the bolt seen in the left side of the brake caliper using an adjustable wrench.

  9. Take out the brake pad and the bolt that held it in.
  10. Make sure to save this bolt assembly.

  12. Make sure the new brake pad says "R front".
  13. Unscrew the bottom nut of the new brake pad using an Allen wrench.
  14. Slide the bolt assembly that was saved onto the new brake pad.
  15. Screw the nut back on using an Allen wrench.

  17. Put the new brake pad back into the holder located near the wheel and screw the bolt on the left side using an adjustable wrench.
  18. Also, tighten the bottom nut of the new brake pad using an Allen wrench.

  20. Make sure the brake pad is parallel to the tire. This will ensure that the brake pad hits the wheel correctly.

  22. Hook the brake cable back in on the right side.

  24. Repeat steps 4-9 on the left side: unscrew the bolt to take out the old brake pad, put the new brake pad back on to the holder near the bike wheel, and screw everything back into place.
  25. Use an adjustable wrench and Allen wrench as described before.

  27. Hook the brake cable back in on the left side.

  29. Screw the pinch bolt back onto the brake system using an adjustable wrench.

  31. Sandpaper your brakes to maintain symmetry on either side of the wheel.

  33. Lubricate the brake cables using brake oil to make sure the brake system runs smoothly.

  35. Do a test run for the new brake pads and make sure they apply friction as they are supposed to.
