Steps:

1. Turn off the device.

2. Remove the water tank by sliding the latch down with a finger and grasping the bottom of the water tank.
3. Pull it out.

4. Flip the device over to access the panels on the back.
5. Rotate the device to where the battery panel is closest to you.
6. Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, remove the two 10 mm screws from the battery panel.

7. From the opposite end of the battery wires, use an opening tool to pry the battery out.
8. Do not use metal objects to pry out the battery.
9. You may need to rotate the device depending on your hand prominence.

10. Peel off the electrical tape that wraps around the battery's wire connectors.

11. Pinch the two lock mechanisms on the wire connectors while pulling them apart.
12. Set aside the old battery to dispose of later.
13. Batteries can be safely disposed of at your local recycling center with the help of a professional.
