Disassembling Ferrari 458 Spider Rear view mirror and headliner

ID: 173746

Description: This guide helps with taking the rear view...

Steps:

  1. Before working on any components that have electrical connections, it is best practice to disconnect the battery.
  2. Under the glovebox is a small pin that you can pull to open up the battery compartment.
  3. Once that is open, the ground has a quick disconnect that you can loosen by opening up the clip and then pulling the connector up and off.

  5. Use a #2 phillips head bit to remove 2 screws from each of the driver and passenger side sun visors. Be careful, the black finish can come off of the screw heads if you use too much force.

  7. On each side of the piece of plastic that covers some screw holes, you can find some very small slits. Push a very narrow and flat spudger through to push on the clip. It should pop down. You need to do this on both sides.
  8. With both clips unhooked, pull the piece off and set to the side.

  10. Remove the 3 torx 15 bolts.
  11. Gently pull on the enclosure to detach it from the frame.

  13. After pulling the center controls out, there are two black torx 15 bolts you need to remove to allow the moulding to detatch.
  14. The back one can be tricky to get with the mirror, but should come out with a little coaxing.

  16. Carefully use a spudger to pry back the plastic from the frame. There are 2 connectors on each side and 2 in the center that need to get popped off for the piece to come off.
  17. Carefully thread the center control module through the hole once you have the plastic off and set it down on a blanket.
  18. Congrats! You've removed the headliner!
