Steps:

1. Release latch on back of key to remove metal key.

2. Remove 1 Phillips screw to remove key ring from the key.

3. Using a tool to pry split to the two halves of the key, best to start from the inside where the key receptacle is.

4. The release latch used in the first step consists of small metal spring and a plastic insert. This is easily removed with a pair of tweezers.

5. The battery is located under a black circular cover in the center of the key, and sealed with an orange O-ring. All of the are easily lifted out.

6. The black plastic internals are clipped in and can be removed by gently prying the sides away from the inside. The internals house the battery and contacts the circuit board at two points to pass power to the board.

7. The circuit board will simply lift out of its position.

8. A silicon insert under the circuit board holds the buttons, when this is removed the buttons lift out.

9. All parts laid out.
