Description:

Steps:

  1. Let's get to know the inside of a TV remote control, in this case ENGEL model.
  2. The remote can be opened using a thin-bladed knife, insert it carefully and pry along the sides.

  4. View of all the parts that make up the controller, the PCB can be cleaned with alcohol and the rubber membrane of the keyboard can be cleaned with water a toothbrush and dishwasher under the tap, drying it well afterwards.

  7. This remote has a "mixed" keyboard, the most used keys audibly "click" due to metal contacts (the inside of these is protected by plastic that surround them. The rest of the keys are made of carbon film activated by the conductive rubber of the membrane.

  9. View of the only component that can be repaired. The D1 infrared LED diode, in the event of a broken or cold soldering problem, the diode may fail and not emit infrared light. Bear in mind that this light is visible with a digital camera or a mobile phone camera.
  10. If in doubt about the condition of the solder joints, redo the joints with an electronic soldering iron.
  11. The other component that we observe above on the right is the Diode Protection Resistor, R1.

  14. Seen from the other side of the PCB we can only see the two positive and negative springs and the infrared LED diode, "the PCB is empty".

  16. Photo 1 view of D1 and R1.
  17. Photo 2 view of the microprocessor, on this PCB, "it does everything"; if it fails it is not repairable.

  19. This case was not a repair, rather a scrap of an unused remote. I was only able to recover and recycle three parts, the two springs and the Infrared Led diode, useful for other repairs.
