Repair a loose USB memory stick

Steps:

  1. The USB memory stick is getting loose. The protruding metal part slides back and forth. One day, you are unable to insert it properly and read it.
  2. Open the two plastic halves by a cutter. It may a bit destructive depending on the model.
  3. You will probably find a very small plastic part broken off. this part is designed to hold the entire card in translation. Its size and robustness are obviously grossly underestimated, as you can see here.

  4. Hot glue gun will do the trick, fill the empty space to prevent the memory card from sliding.
  5. Assemble again. Your disk is like a new!
