ID: 180219
Description: The keyboard on your G500 stops working or...
Steps:
- First you have to release the "lock" for the battery. You can do this by simply pushing the two sliders in the direction of the arrows.
- ATTENTION: The right slider does not lock, you have to hold it.
- Now you can pull the battery out and up. It might be a little tight, so feel free to use a little more force.
- After the battery is removed, you can easily loosen the two screws shown using a Phillips screwdriver.
- ATTENTION: Here is a guarantee seal! You have to break this to remove the back cover. Your warranty claims will therefore be lost! (Translator's note: This is not always true, check the law where you live.)
- Now you can easily slide off the back cover in the direction of the arrows.
- You can then remove it by lifting upwards.
- After you remove the back cover, you should see the three marked screws.
- You must remove them.
- after the screws have been removed you can begin freeing the keybpard.
- Note: the keyboard is held in the frame by ten clips. The clips are located at the points marked with red arrows.
- Now use a thin piece of sheet metal, a credit card or Jimmy (Ifixit tool) and gently push it into the slot between the frame and the keyboard. It"s best to start at the top right.
- You can now pry very easily to lift the keyboard out of the clip. It"s best to insert another thin object in between after a clip has been released (so it doesn't slip back down).
- ATTENTION: Once you have freed the keyboard from the frame, you still need to disconnect the flex cable before you can remove it.
- Use a small flat-head screwdriver and lift the lock of the plug. (The small gray strip)
- You can then pull the cable out of the connector.
