Description: If your G500 becomes slow, swapping the...
Steps:
- First you have to release the "lock" for the battery. You can do this by simply pushing the two sliders in the direction of the arrows.
- ATTENTION: The right slider does not lock, you have to hold it.
- Now you can pull the battery out and up. It might be a little tight, so feel free to use a little more force.
- After the battery is removed, you can easily loosen the two screws shown using a Phillips screwdriver.
- ATTENTION: Here is a guarantee seal! You have to break this to remove the back cover. Your warranty claims will therefore be lost! (Translator's note: This is not always true, check the law where you live.)
- Now you can easily slide off the back cover in the direction of the arrows.
- You can then remove it by lifting upwards.
- As soon as you remove the back cover, you can see the fan and heatsink.
- ATTENTION: When loosening the screws, make sure to loosen them carefully and evenly! (Not 'all-at-once', rather loosen each screw only a bit then do another one, then another to equalize pressure and avoid damaging underlying components... like the GPU)
- Now remove the three screws marked in red with a Phillips screwdriver.
- Some models have a dedicated graphics unit installed. If this is the case, the cooler is larger and the two screws marked in green also need to be removed (as in the ATTENTION! above!)
- Now, carefully remove the Heatsink/Fan assembly in the direction of the red arrow, be careful of the cooling fins, they are easily deformed.
- Lift with a sideways motion toward the interior of the device to clear the radiating fins from the case.
- Be careful not to damage the GPU.
- The processor only fits into the socket in one direction! There is a small triangle on the processor, and also on the socket. (Image 2, pink circle)
- Furthermore, the processor socket is locked with a slotted screw at the head of the socket! (Image 2, Yellow circle)
- To remove the processor you must turn the screw marked in red 180 degrees. The pin should point to the opened lock.
- You can then remove the processor.
- When inserting the new one, pay attention to the small triangle on the processor!
