Description:
Steps:
- First, remove the 10 screws on the bottom side.
- Two screws holding the battery compartment to the keyboard housing secure the membranes. Remove the two screws shown in the image to detach the circuit connected to the battery compartment.
- After unscrewing the screws from the previous step and removing the circuit, remove the membranes.
- When removing the membranes, pay attention to their bottom and top positions. The membrane on the bottom is marked BOT (short for bottom), and the membrane on the top is marked TOP.
- Clean the membranes with a microfiber cloth using electronic contact cleaner. If the membranes do not separate, do not force them. Clean them gently and leave them to dry. Make sure there is no residue left in between.
- Clean the keyboard circuit with electronic contact cleaner and check the connections. Inspect for any signs of corrosion or burning.
- If you wish, while the keyboard is already fully disassembled, you can remove the keycaps using electronics tweezers to clean them. Before proceeding to this step, be sure to take a photo of the keyboard. If you get confused about where the keys go when putting them back, the photo you took will be very useful.
