Bosch planetary gear disassembly
ID: 182154
Description: This tutorial aims to help you disassemble, and...
Steps:
- To prepare for the disassembly of this shredder, you must begin by:
- Removing the collection bin (see user manual)
- Removing the upper funnel (also known as the chute). The manual can also assist you here.
- These steps are the standard storage procedures for the shredder.
- Remove the 4 Torx screws securing the control panel
- Lift the panel to remove it.
- Lift up to remove the panel holding the control buttons.
- Be careful to remove and store the springs under the buttons. These are not fixed.
- Unplug the circuit board:
- The power connectors are disconnected by pressing the tab to lift the retaining flap, then pulling the socket away from the board.
- The sensor connectors are disconnected by pulling on the socket. You can use a small tool like a spudger or a small electrician's screwdriver to remove them.
- We recommend that you note or mark (as in the photos, with a marker) the connectors and the associated cable to facilitate reassembly and avoid errors.
- Lift the board by the side (connector side) to remove it.
- Remove the two Torx 20 screws securing the rear housing, then pull on the housing to remove it.
- We must now remove the upper (black) case from the grinder.
- Remove the funnel (or hopper) fastener knob. This red knob is attached to the side of the black case.
- This knob may be secured by a pin that must be removed before pulling on it.
- You will need to remove the screws located underneath the grinder. You can choose to lay the grinder on its side or slide underneath it to work.
- Remove the six T20 Torx screws located under the grinder.
- Pull on the upper cover to remove it.
- Once the black housing has been removed, the capacitor and ground wire connections are accessible:
- Unplug the capacitor connections by pulling on them.
- Unplug the ground wire by removing the washer screwed onto the motor. You will need to remove the Torx screw that secures it.
- This block includes the motor, gears, blade holder, and blade. It is quite heavy. Assistance may be needed to handle it safely.
- It may be necessary to lay the grinder on its side to more easily access the screws, while being careful that the assembly does not fall when unscrewing.
- Unscrew the four bolts that secure the motor-grinder block to the chassis. You will need a wrench or a 12 mm socket wrench. A second wrench may be necessary to hold the shaft, which can also be unscrewed.
- You will then be able to separate the motor-grinder block from its chassis and the green casing.
- Now unscrew the four screws holding the blade holder in place using a 5 mm Allen wrench.
- Simply pull on this metal part to detach it from the rest of the motor block.
- The blade is now exposed. Some parts may be sharp. Wear gloves to avoid injury.
- A 6 mm allen wrench is required to undo the 4 blade fastener screws.
- You must then pull the blade to remove it from its axis. It may be seized due to time, moisture, or dirt. A penetrating oil may help.
- The screws can now be accessed to open the gearbox, the compartment containing the planetary gears.
- Remove the four Allen screws that secure the gearbox.
- These screws are often well hidden at the bottom of a hole filled with grinding debris. You must clean this space to access the screws.
