Steps:
- Pull the power plug out of the electrical socket before starting work.
- Do not continue until you are certain the appliance is completely de‑energised.
- Undo the four mounting screws on the underside of the worktop, two on each side.
- Lift the hob vertically out of the cut‑out once all screws are removed.
- Keep cables free from strain while lifting.
- Lay a soft towel on the bench and flip the hob so the glass rests safely on it.
- Avoid placing the glass on sharp edges to prevent scratches or cracks.
- Confirm which cooking zone no longer heats and locate its matching element under the glass.
- Take clear photos of the wiring layout around the faulty element.
- Label any identical wires, particularly noting the single red lead among three white leads.
- Pull the spade terminals off the heating element one by one using insulated pliers.
- Mark the connection point for the red wire on the bracket to avoid mix‑ups during reassembly.
- Undo the single central screw holding the distance spacer to the chassis.
- Press the spring clips and lift the heating element clear of its seat.
- Lift the element straight out of the housing once free of clips.
- Wipe the metal housing with a clean cloth to remove grease and stains.
- Cleaning now prevents trapped dirt from baking onto the glass later.
- Set the new element into the housing, aligning its tabs with the cut‑outs.
- Press down until the spring clips engage and the element sits flush.
- Insert and tighten the mounting screw to secure the spacer.
- Reconnect each wire to its original terminal following your photo reference.
- Ensure each spade fully seats and no wire is under tension.
- Rotate the hob upright, guide the cable back through the worktop and lower the unit into the cut‑out.
- Refit the four mounting screws and tighten evenly.
- Reconnect the power plug and test the repaired cooking zone.
- Repairs can void the manufacturer warranty; always read your appliance manual before opening the unit.
- For gas or induction models, contact a licensed service technician instead of attempting a DIY repair.
