Steps:

  1. Collect 0W16 engine oil, a new oil filter and a fresh drain plug washer.
  2. Have a ratchet, 10 mm and 14 mm sockets and a socket extension ready.
  3. Prepare wheel chocks, a hydraulic jack, jack stands and an oil drain pan.
  4. Put on safety glasses and protective gloves and keep rags and paper towels handy.
  5. Engage the parking brake and place wheel chocks behind the rear tires.
  6. Position the hydraulic jack at the front jack point and raise the vehicle.
  7. Slide jack stands under the rocker panel pinch welds and lower the car onto them.
  8. Leave the jack in place as backup support and shake the car to confirm stability.
  9. Use a marker to draw four evenly spaced marks on the new oil filter circumference.
  10. These marks let you gauge the three‑quarter turn once the filter gasket seats.
  11. Slide a new crush washer onto the drain plug with the flat side toward the bolt tip.
  12. Always replace the washer because it is inexpensive and ensures a proper seal.
  13. Remove the oil filler cap on top of the engine to aid draining.
  14. Using a 10 mm socket and extension remove the screws securing the small drain‑pan cover.
  15. Lower the plastic cover and set it aside with its fasteners.
  16. Place the drain pan under the 14 mm drain plug.
  17. Use the 14 mm socket and ratchet to break the plug loose, then finish unscrewing it by hand.
  18. Let the oil flow until it slows to a steady drip.
  19. Avoid hot oil splashes when removing the plug.
  20. Check that the old crush washer is not stuck to the pan and wipe the sealing surface clean.
  21. Fit the new washer on the plug as oriented earlier and thread the plug in by hand.
  22. Snug the plug with the ratchet only a few degrees past contact avoiding overtightening.
  23. Spin off the old oil filter and let residual oil drain into the pan.
  24. Clean the sealing surface on the engine with a rag.
  25. Screw the new marked filter on until the gasket touches the housing.
  26. Hand‑tighten the filter roughly three‑quarters of a turn using a rag for grip if needed.
  27. The filter O‑ring will compress once the engine heats so slight under‑turn is acceptable.
  28. Refit the plastic cover and hold it in place.
  29. Use the 10 mm socket with the extension without the ratchet to tighten the screws by hand.
  30. Pour 4.8 quarts of 0W16 oil into the engine through the filler neck.
  31. Reinstall and tighten the oil filler cap.
  32. Press the engine cover back onto its mounting pins.
  33. Pull the dipstick wipe it clean reinsert it and verify the second reading.
  34. A level slightly above the full mark is acceptable.
  35. Start the car and open Vehicle Settings with the steering‑wheel controls.
  36. Select Scheduled Maintenance choose Reset Data and confirm the prompt.
  37. Verify the display shows Reset Complete.
