Steps:
- Unplug the washing machine from the wall outlet before touching any panels or wiring.
- Turn off the household water supply valves to prevent accidental flooding.
- Place towels on the floor behind the machine to catch any residual water from hoses or the switch tube.
- Grip the cabinet sides and slide the washer straight forward until you can comfortably work at the back panel.
- Avoid pinching the power cord or water lines while repositioning the appliance.
- Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove all perimeter screws securing the back panel to the cabinet.
- Lift the panel off and set it aside where it will not bend or scratch.
- Locate the small round switch mounted near the water inlet with a thin clear hose attached to its side.
- Confirm the part by tracing the hose back to the tub and the multi-wire plug on the switch body.
- Squeeze the locking tabs and pull the plastic wiring connector straight off the switch terminals.
- Pull only on the connector, not the wires, to avoid breaking internal conductors.
- Loosen the spring clamp with pliers and slide it back along the clear hose.
- Twist and pull the hose off the switch nipple, catching any drips with a towel.
- Remove the retaining screw or twist the switch counter-clockwise, depending on the model, to free it from its bracket.
- Keep the mounting screw for reuse with the replacement part.
- Seat the replacement switch in the original bracket and secure it firmly with the retained screw or twist-lock.
- Slide the pressure hose fully onto the switch nipple and reposition the clamp over the rib to seal the connection.
- Press the wiring connector onto the new switch until the locking tabs click.
- Tug lightly on the connector to confirm it is latched and cannot vibrate loose.
- Align the back panel with the cabinet edges and reinstall all mounting screws snugly but without over-tightening.
- Slide the machine back against the wall, keeping hoses and the power cord from kinking or crushing.
- Turn on the water supply valves and plug the washer into the outlet.
- Run a normal cycle and watch the fill level; the water should stop at the correct setting and the cycle should advance.
- If the tub still over-fills, under-fills, or shows error codes, double-check hose seating and wiring, then consider professional diagnosis.
