Steps:
- Press and hold the hood release button on the driver's side seat.
- Open the hood and find the hood prop rod.
- Insert the rod tip into a hole with an arrow pointing at it under the hood.
- If you’ve recently driven the car, allow the engine to cool completely before continuing to avoid burns.
- Remove the three 12 mm bolts on the distributor—two on the front and one on the back—using an impact drill with a right-angle attachment and a 12 mm socket.
- When unscrewing the third screw the distributor may fall so have one hand underneath to catch it if it does.
- Some oil may start to leak out the side of the engine slowly so be sure to have some paper towels ready if it does.
- Carefully take out the distributor and place it on top of the engine where it is steady and won't start sliding off.
- Locate the cable and wiring harness connected to the coolant sensor, then carefully disconnect the harness.
- If oil starts leaking out from the engine, use the paper towels to stop it.
- Remove the thermistor using the 3/8 ratchet with a size 12 socket attached.
- Place a small tower underneath the sensor to catch any oil leaking out and start unscrewing the sensor with your hand to remove it.
