Steps:

  1. Press and hold the hood release button on the driver's side seat.
  2. Open the hood and find the hood prop rod.
  3. Insert the rod tip into a hole with an arrow pointing at it under the hood.
  4. If you’ve recently driven the car, allow the engine to cool completely before continuing to avoid burns.

  6. Remove the three 12 mm bolts on the distributor—two on the front and one on the back—using an impact drill with a right-angle attachment and a 12 mm socket.
  7. When unscrewing the third screw the distributor may fall so have one hand underneath to catch it if it does.
  8. Some oil may start to leak out the side of the engine slowly so be sure to have some paper towels ready if it does.

  10. Carefully take out the distributor and place it on top of the engine where it is steady and won't start sliding off.

  12. Locate the cable and wiring harness connected to the coolant sensor, then carefully disconnect the harness.
  13. If oil starts leaking out from the engine, use the paper towels to stop it.

  15. Remove the thermistor using the 3/8 ratchet with a size 12 socket attached.

  17. Place a small tower underneath the sensor to catch any oil leaking out and start unscrewing the sensor with your hand to remove it.
