Description: This is a quick tutorial on how to replace a...
Steps:
- Turn the vehicle completely off and remove the key.
- This prevents electrical shocks and keeps the fuse box area safe for physical contact.
- Open the hood and identify the fuse box.
- A lot of vehicles store the fuse box in the engine bay under plastic, if not, look under the steering wheel.
- Refer to the fuse box diagram to locate the correct fuse.
- Each fuse controls a specific electrical component in the car, so if the wrong fuse is chosen, nothing will change.
- Fuse pullers are often found at the circled location.
- Use the fuse puller to remove the fuse by pulling it straight up.
- By pulling straight up, you can avoid bending or damaging metal parts within the fuse box.
- Hold the fuse up to a light and check whether the metal strip inside is broken.
- If the strip is broken, the fuse has blown and will not allow current to flow.
- Make sure that the replacement fuse is the same amperage.
- Push the new fuse into the corresponding spot.
- Close up the fuse box and hood. Then turn on your truck!
- If the component still does not work, you may have replaced the wrong fuse.
