Nissan Rogue 2016 Engine Air Filter Replacement

Steps:

  1. Use your finger to pull the hood lever on the driver’s side, near knee level, to open the hood.
  2. Under the hood, find the latch that holds the hood. Push it to the side to allow popping up the hood fully open.
  3. Pop the hood stick (it is held under the hood) and place the end that is not connected to the hood in the hole in the chassis. Ensure it properly fits the hole, and the hood is securely in position.

  5. Locate the filter housing, just behind the battery.

  7. Release the clips at the front of the air duct.
  8. Press it down a bit to make it easier to release.
  9. Release the clip in the back. It should come loose as you move the duct towards the back.

  11. Remove the duct.

  13. Release the fasteners of the filter housing. Move your finger to the back of the fastener and pull outwards.
  14. Repeat on the other side.

  16. Pull the top of the filter toward you and lift it out of the housing.
  17. Insert the new engine air filter.
  18. The top of the filter has a small lip to ensure it is installed in the correct orientation.

  20. Press the front of the housing back in place and engage the fastener on one side.
  21. Repeat the process on the other side.

  23. Slide the back of the duct onto the filter housing.
  24. Ensure the clip in the back and the duct are aligned and fit in place.
  25. Secure the clips in the front of the duct.
  26. You might need to work on one side at a time.

  28. Check that the duct is securely seated in place.

  30. Make sure you did not leave anything under the hood (keys, tools, etc.)
  31. Push the hood up slightly, and release the hood stick from the chassis.
  32. Secure the hood support rod in place against the hood.
  33. To close the hood, move yourself back a bit, lower the hood, leaving at least a foot from closing. Drop it.
  34. It should lock in place. If not, pop it back open and let it fall from a bit higher distance. Don't press the hood down to lock. It could dent the hood.
